I’ve never been sent to sleep on the couch, but I have had boyfriends who felt upstaged by my plastic robot addiction, and been verbal about expressing their objections.
Another true story. I guess you could say I have a tendency to be downright vulgar when I’m irritated. Maybe one day the infamous candy bar story will make an appearance in a future Gayformers strip.
Poor turbine and Solfire… although not an entirely uncommon event, a wholly unpleasant one.
Mostly an excuse to make a bunch or geeky pickup lines.
This strip was based on the actual conversation I had with my father when I came out. Probably one of the most awkward moments of my life. The real conversation took place over the phone, was a little more in depth (and disturbing) and ended with my father telling me to “Be nice to your mother”
You’ll notice another skip in the numbering, I have no idea why that happened. I’m not even sure what #8 is or was anymore, although it may still be floating around the ethers of Doorq somewhere…
This is a true’ish story. Part 2 mostly. I almost always wrote Gayformers strips as if they were real human characters, and then just added the Transformers terminology after the fact. This strip mixes a few different canons, and also gets us into some uncanny valley territory (kinda like Pixar’s disturbing world of CARS). But this was necessary to get us to part 2.
You’ll notice that the numbering skips around a little. The weekly schedule at DoorQ was pretty difficult for me to keep up with, and not all of the strips were very good. In fact some, like #5 were downright in bad taste. I’m only re-posting the strips that I still think are funny.
This episode doesn’t have any Gayformers in it at all but there was a huge online fascination at the time about “Ninjas and Pirates” and people were voting or making comics about who they thought would win, this was my entry.
This strip started out 3 pages long, but I condensed it and made it one long page for DoorQ. There’s also a very early version using different characters that I posted to a Transformers message board years ago.
This strip was 100% an excuse to push the limits of how bizarre I could get and have it still make sense. I was also exploring the idea of a comics page that was just infinitely vertical.
And besides, there’s a dude in it with a piece of Cherry Pie for a head. How can you go wrong?
